Târ & Sétâr
Distant voices drift along with the breeze,
and at the heart of the city, a new melody is born.
آواهای دوردست، نسیم را همراه خود دارند
و در دل شهر، نغمهای تازه زاده میشود
Trained in Iran in the art of the târ and setâr—emblematic lutes of Persian classical music—Sogol Mirzaei quickly established herself as a soloist, composer, and member of prestigious ensembles, thanks to the precision and elegance of her playing.
She moved to France in 2006 to pursue her studies, earning a Master’s degree in musicology at the Sorbonne. Today, Sogol performs internationally, both as a soloist and within a variety of ensembles, bringing her compositions and improvisations into the heart of the great Iranian tradition while contributing to its contemporary vitality.
Founder of Ensemble Chakâm—a trio acclaimed for its distinctive sound identity, winner of the Prix des Musiques d’ICI and selected for the official WOMEX 2024 showcases—Sogol is also involved in numerous collaborations. She has performed with Orpheus XXI alongside Maestro Jordi Savall, with Sowal Diabi alongside Mamani Keïta, and with the quintet Atine, alongside Iranian singer Sepideh Raissadat and Franco-Iranian percussionist Keyvan Chemirani.
